Company A.s.K. is a young innovative company founded in 2011. The mission of the company is to increase traffic safety in road and rail traffic. Their vision is to establish active traffic signalisation, which will contribute towards bigger safety of all traffic participants. They strive towards the introduction and placement of new ‘smart’ and ‘active’ road signs in all locations where there is an increased possibility of traffic accidents. The company collaborates with the Laboratory for Electro-Optical and Sensor Systems at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science in Maribor.
The product named ‘Detector of blind spots in intersections’ is a device intended for additional safety in road traffic, namely in intersections with a blind spot that are equipped with a mirror. It can also be placed independently on specific road segments that present a direct danger of impact due to the blind spot. The device itself works exclusively on solar energy, which presents an easier, more effective and cheaper implementation into the road traffic infrastructure. The system doesn’t depend on the electricity network. The device can also be placed into garage houses and other confusing road segments where direct visibility of traffic participants is impossible. It is also indispensable where there are unprotected railway crossings. It can be either implemented on already existing traffic mirrors or it can do its function as an independent traffic sign.
